Through the Women Ocean Guardians initiative, I realized I was not alone \u2014 I overcame my fear of sharing challenges and discovered the power of sharing strengths. Today, I am proud to uplift and support other women leaders in marine protected areas, and I am grateful that WOGI is receiving support from organizations and governments to connect and empower more women guardians around the world who may still feel alone\u201d said Saily. At the World Conservation Congress, Saily participated as both a Woman Ocean Guardians and youth leader in partnership with the GEF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/media.licdn.com\/dms\/image\/v2\/D4E12AQFQ9u7Zd4w29A\/article-inline_image-shrink_1000_1488\/B4EZnOmGhGHgAQ-\/0\/1760107723254?e=1762992000&amp;v=beta&amp;t=CrcKpMMsuPL87iew3tweZ5J7RqpV5HsLJwhM_ixSUi4\" alt=\"Contenido del art\u00edculo\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Saily Hernandez Quinde, an MPA administrator from Ecuador and Women Ocean Guardian, shares her story.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember60\" class=\"\">In the context of this convening, the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas (IUCN-WCPA) also signed the commitment, cementing their commitment to continue elevating women who play a vital role in the creation, effective management, and protection of protected areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember61\" class=\"\">\u201cWomen Ocean Guardians is not only recognizing women\u2019s leadership in ocean stewardship, it is also driving change so that women are fully included in the governance and management of protected areas, with the dignity and conditions they need to thrive.
